Sugar Beach, Maalaea Surf Resort
The Maalaea Surf Resort is located on one of Maui's
most beautiful stretches of oceanfront. Sugar Beach
gets it's name from the sugary consistency of it's
fine, white sand. Miles of excellent sandy beach to
swim and snorkel. This is a popular location for walking
the beach, especially at sunrise and sunset. Enjoy
long romantic walks from the Maalaea Surf Resort.
Whale watch as you enjoy the magnificent views. A
favorite spot for kayak and canoe paddlers.
Makena
Beach (Big Beach & Little Beach)
One of Maui's most famous and beautiful beaches. A
wide swath of white sand, a mile long with azure blue
water.
This breathtaking beach is divided into "big"
and "little" beach by Pu'u Olai, a 360 foot cylinder
cone. Be aware of large shorebreak, but swimming and
snorkeling
can be excellent with visibility at times over 100
feet in the water.
Location: Piilani Highway south past Kihei, south past
Wailea.
Ulua
Beach
Located on the Wailea walking path, Ulua Beach offers
a great place to catch Maui's spectacular sunsets.
Swimming, snorkeling and diving are also excellent.
Public parking, showers and restrooms. Directions:
South Kihei Road to Alanui Road, about one mile south
of Wailea.
Charlie
Young Beach Located on the North end of Kamaole
Beach I. This large sandy beach is great for sunbathing,
swimming and families. Small waves make for easy swimming
and boogieboarding. Kamaole Park on the South end
provides bathroom facilities and has a central lifeguard
tower.
Kamaole
Beach Parks All three beaches Kamaole I, II, III offer excellent
swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, sunbathing, and volleyball.
All have lifeguards, restrooms and showers. Location:
Off South Kihei Road, at the southern end of Kihei. Kama'ole I - Located South of Charlie Young
Beach Kamaole I boasts a large sandy beach ideal for
walking, swimming and laying out. Great for families.
The park provides parking, bathroom facilities, and
a lifeguard tower.
Kama'ole
II - A wide sandy beach about .75 miles long.
Features a sandy bottom and generally small waves,
making this location ideal for swimming and water
activities. There are great tide pools at the South
end. Walk above the rocks to the nearby gazebo and
Kam III beach park.
(The occasional south swell can produce waves,
shore break and rip current,
causing swimming to be dangerous). There is a lifeguard
tower and please respect any warning flags.
Kama'ole
III - Kama’ole 3 is located north of the Kihei Boat
Ramp (Kamala Park). This is a smaller sandy
beach with some large volcanic rocks. The park features
parking, bathroom facilities,
and a lifeguard tower.
Kam III has a huge grass lawn -
ideal for picnics, bocce ball and watching sunsets,
kids will love the swingset.
Wailea
Beach - Located in front of the Four Seasons Hotel
and The Grand Wailea. This large beach is great for
all ocean activities. Also located along the Wailea
walking path.
Makena
Surf / Chang's Beach - Located South of Wailea
on your way to Makena. Good snorkeling and beautiful
views.
